Business Opening: New Style

New Style is a clothing store focused on helping women feel good about themselves through fashion. We asked owners Erica and Karina to tell us a little about themselves and why they decided to open their store in Bolton.

Tell us about your business.

NEW STYLE is a women’s fashion store offering a variety of styles and sizes.

We are Erica Paiva and Karina Caldas, we are Brazilian, have been friends for 30 years and partners in other businesses. We decided to open a fashion business because we enjoy encouraging and motivating women to strengthen their self-esteem. Female empowerment is essential to us, and we aim to help other women feel good about themselves through fashion.

Our current hours are Tuesday to Friday 11:00 – 6:00, Saturday 10:30 – 4:30, Sunday and Monday by appointment only.

Tell us about the two of you, why did you decide to open your own business? 

Erica has a business administration degree and has entrepreneurship in her blood, as she comes from a family with a successful business history in Brazil. She also did other specializations in the business field and worked for about 17 years at SEBRAE Brazil as a Lecturer, instructor, and consultant in the areas of entrepreneurship, marketing and people. More than 1000 companies went through SEBRAE services with proven positive results.

She has been in Canada for five years, worked as cleaner and other jobs, and today has three successful businesses.

Karina Caldas has lived in Canada for over 7 years, worked as a cleaner and in other professions. In Brazil, she graduated in tourism and specialized in marketing and people management, working for over ten years as a consultant and manager. She also worked for SEBRAE and other big institutions, helping small businesses to grow.

We serve our customers with affection, respect, and joy.

We hope that the customer really feels comfortable in our store and leaves feeling happy and more confident.

Why did you decide to locate in Bolton?

We had an online store and when Erica moved to Bolton 1 year ago she felt the need for a women’s clothing store in the area. Then we found the place that was very similar to our style. 

What we really wanted was to be close to our customers, to encourage, empower, and share experiences. Our customers are wonderful, they help us a lot by promoting our store and we really feel they want the best for us.

‌ Any fashion tips for the summer season?

• Pick bright prints and light colors
• Wear lightweight and light-colored jeans 
• Consider wearing dresses more often

And most important, be yourself and wear what you really feel comfortable in!
