Recently Lincoln Pools celebrated the grand opening of their location in downtown Bolton. We asked Chris Hasmatali, owner and founder, to tell us about the business and why they have located here.
Tell us about your business.
I officially started Lincoln Pools in 2011 and Corey Morrison came in as my business partner in 2016. We’re excited to have our new office and a small retail space in downtown Bolton.
We are a rapidly growing company providing services in swimming pool installation, maintenance, equipment sales, landscaping, home renovations, backyard rink construction and residential snow removal within Caledon and surrounding townships.
Cory and I have highly diversified education and work experience and we are fully qualified to see any project through from inception to design to completion.
We attribute a lot of our growth to word of mouth referrals and pride ourselves in building long lasting relationships with all of our customers. Our reputation speaks volumes.
Tell us about you, why did you decide to open your own business?
I went to school to be an engineer and thought I may go into teaching. After school there were no engineering jobs, this was during the recession, so I started working for a pool company. They were not able to give me consistent full-time hours and I didn’t see much opportunity to grow with the company. I’ve always been someone that likes to problem solve, think outside the box and be creative, so I decided to take the leap and start my own business.
Since I started working as a teenager I’ve had 27 jobs, it has been quite a journey but I feel like I have learned something from every one of those jobs whether it was a practical or soft skill or making connections. It really provided me with a good base of knowledge to be able to do my own thing.
Having my own business I’ve been able to put all of my skills to use – design, leadership, teaching, business acumen and interacting with our customers.
And, why call it Lincoln Pools?
My father always had Lincoln cars, he had a taxi company and his fleet were Lincolns, he was always buying or selling one. A Lincoln was my first car and it was a Lincoln that I was driving around in when I was starting the business. It seemed fitting.
Why have you located in downtown Bolton?
Caledon is where most of our customers are so we felt it was important to be here. I was working with an agent to find space for us and this place came up – it perfectly suits our needs for office, retail and storage and we love being in the heritage/downtown district, it has a different feel, it’s great!
What do you love about Bolton/Caledon?
Caledon has so much of what I like to do, golf, the recreation centres, events and fall fairs, natural spaces and trails.
And, Bolton just feels like home. I grew up here, went to school here and my parents still live here, it’s where I want to grow the business.
